David Jones, the young midfielder, has agreed to go on loan to Derby County with a view to a permanent move (read the article here()). This is a time to bring in players, and when you’re sending them out! I was hoping he would have something of a future at United but I guess Fergie knows best.
The youth academy at United is without a shadow of doubt the best in the world. The importance of an academy that is good can never be under-estimated, look at the Nevilles, the Beckhams and the Giggsies … that wonderful generation. Not to mention the newer recruits from the academy which are playing their part for United this season. Look how far Fletcher has come this season, looks more like a goal-scoring midfielder than ever before.
A price-tag of a million quid is being quoted for Jones’ transfer. I wish him luck and hope this decision is a good one for him!
