Manchester United vs. Aston Villa Review
United stepped back into the fray for title contention as they thumped the Villans 3-0 in their own backyard! It was normal service resumed, have to say, from the lads who surely would have gotten a rollicking at the hands of their gaffer after doing down at Upton Park last week. But to our dismay, the Blues who looked set to be heading towards a draw, were able to pull out yet another victory from nothing as they clinched their tie in the last minute with an Arjen Robben goal! Bugger! But we must keep going on and concentrate on our lot rather than theirs.
Xmas is here and the fans demanded a performance worthy of the time and the United team responded in accordance. Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and a stunner from Scholes helped defeat a Villa side short on quality, but not on determination.
All the goals came in the second half and started around the hour mark by Cristiano Ronaldo when he cut inside the Villa defence to score the opener. Five minutes later, Paul Scholes scored a scorcher of a goal when his volley went in off the woodwork in the 64th minute. Ronaldo was now at his best and created numerous chances that would have been put away on another day. He scored the killer third goal five minutes from time to cap a wonderful display and earn a well-deserved man of the match medal.
So, a resounding win against Villa was just what we needed and we got exactly that! Let’s hope we keep collecting points throughout the festive season to keep the pressure up on Chelski to keep winning and they just might slip-up, they nearly did today!
