Manchester United bought Rio Ferdinand for £29 million from Leeds United in 2002. He has since played almost 200 games for the club in all competitions, but was he really worth all that money?
Undoubtedly Ferdinand is a greatest defender with skill and the ability to save a game from the jaws of defeat with strong defending and a fearless attitude. However, he is anything but consistant and tends to have as many bad games as he does good.
Thew inflated price that United paid for Ferdinand is indicative of the ridiculous prices being paid across the board for quality players. And don’t forget to consider that he still has a good ten years left in him yet!
Rio has been a great defender for both man utd and england for the past few years. There can be no doubt his credentials however he is just a bit inconsistent. But the good news is that now a days he is scoring goals for man utd.
