Manchester United beat the Europe XI team last night in a charity match that raised £1.25 million and marked the 50th anniversary of European competition for the Red Devils. It was a good game that saw the best in Europe play and score and a hatful of goals.

David Beckham was unable to play but returned to Old Trafford to say hello to the fans. He got a rapturous reception and seemd to enjoy every minute on the pitch that he came to call home.

Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wes Brown all scored for Manchester Unnitd, with Rooney scoring two.
