  The worst kept secret in football may well soon become reality. Owen Hargreaves should complete his transfer to Manchester United in the next few weeks and become Alex Ferguson’s first summmer signing of 2007. The speculation has been rife for a number of months now that Hargreaves would move from Bayern Munich to the Premiership champions, and may well have done so before now if he hadn’t have broken his foot.   Alas, this year the double was not to be. In the first FA Cup final at the new Wembley, Manchester United were beaten by a Chelsea goal from Didier Drogba deep into extra time, which handed Chelsea the cup double this year. The match was a poor affair and not fitting for the first final back at its spiritual home, which lends itself to the argument that clubs are playing too many matches every season with not enough of a break. The one bright spark was Wayne Rooney who ran his socks of for all 120 minutes. There’s always next year...

Today saw Manchester United lift the Premiership title for the first time in four years, and about time too! It was an amazing sight at Old Trafford, but what went before it was slightly disappointing! Manchester United were defeated by West Ham in their final game of the season at Olf Trafford. The game wasn’t without incident but West Ham played well and stayed up. Whether they deserved to or not is up for debate! For pictures of the celebrations, check here tomorrow!
