                                              1950s

Earlier I posted about the change to the Manchester United badge in the 1970s and 1980s. Well, I though it would be interesting to see what it looked like prior to then. I made some interesting findings and wanted to share them.

The Manchester Coat of Arms (above) had always been the Manchester United crest, until it was changed in the 1960s for commercial reasons. However, United continued to wear it on their Final jerseys until the 1970s. It is still on club blazers today. The Latin on the crest actually means “Wisdom and effort” and comes from the city’s rich shipping trade on the canal, with the blue bees representing industry! It is a far cry from the red devil!
