Today’s Hero - Ji-Sung Park

Manchester United won 2-0 today against Charlton. The ifrst goal was scored by an unlikely hero - winger Ji-Sung Park. He has plyed the majority of games for the club this season but remains an unsung hero behind the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney so we should all make the effort to get to know him!
Park was born on February 25th 1981 in Suwon, South Korea. He began playing football at an early age and soon developed a reputation for his endless running and stamina, something that has followed him ever since and has earned him the nickname “Three Lung Park” at Manchester United.

He earned his first professional contract at South Korean club Kyoto Purple Sanga in 2000. When he signed, he became the first player to go straight into the J League without playing in the K League, which is no mean feat. He only played there until 2002. his performance at the World Cup led to a transfer to PSV Eindhoven. His time there was blighted with injury, although he did score in a Champions League semi-final match against AC Milan, which has proved to be a major highlight of his career so far.

Park moved to Manchester United in 2005 for £4m and has been a regular in the side ever since. He scored his first goal on April 9th 2006 against Arsenal, although he is renowned for his inability to score in general because of a lack of composure in the box. He has recently signed a contract extension that ties him to the club until 2010 so no doubt we will see a lot more of him!

The England Call Ups For Manchester United Players

The England national side play Spain in an international friendly on Wednesday night, and yet again Manchester United have had players called up to the squad. Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and Michael Carrick all figure in the squad and it is likely that all three will play. Is it any wonder considering the form that all three players are in at the moment? If Rooney is fit after receiving a knock in the four-nil win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, he will most definitely start.

Rooney is still England’s key man, despite his red card against Portugal in the World Cup last year… which we won’t mention to Manchester United team mate Cristiano Ronaldo! Rooney’s undoubtable talent is only lacking as a result of his temprement. If he can get that under control in the near future then there will be no stopping the man in years to come.

What is even more interesting is that Owen Hargreaves has also been called up alongside the Man Utd three. Alex Ferguson is rumoured to have put in a £20m bid for the Bayern Munich star in January. Will he be joining Rooney as a club as well as country team mate in the summer? Only time will tell.

Cristiano Ronaldo In Transfer Move Gossip

Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United’s current goal machine, is at the centre of more transfer speculation. It is rumoured that Barcelona and real Madrid are fightig Manchester United and each other in trying to secure the winger’s services for the 2007-2008 season. It could mean a significant rise in wages for Ronaldo himself, but what would it mean for Manchester United?

Ronaldo has been in magnificent form so far this season, scoring many goals and ensuring his place in the side every week. He is an integral part of the winning team and they undoubtedly wouln’t be the same without him. Watch this space for more news on any possible transfers.
