Speaking of Paul Scholes, I think that it is about time we got to know our ginger midfielder a little bit better!

Scholes is Manchester through and through. Not only was he born in Salford but he has never played for another club. He began training at The Academy at the tender of age of 14 before signing a YTS contract upon leaving school in 1991. During his time in the youth team they actually won the FA Youth Cup. He was part of the soom to be first team squad with Beckham and the Neville brothers, which is one of the main reasons why Alex Ferguson bumped him up to first team duty in 1994, after just three years in the youth ranks. He actually scord twice in his full first team debut against Ipswich Town, a game that the Reds ultimately won.

Scholes soon became a regular in the side and established himself during the 1994/5 season, when he scored 5 goals in 17 appearences. However, he had to wait until 1997/8 to becaome a first team regular. Since his debut, he has won copious amounts of silverwear and is perhaps one of the most crucial players to Manchester United’s season to this day. Although retiring from the England national side, Scholes continues to play an active role for Manchester United, and hopefully will well into the future!

Manchester United Women

Did you know that Manchester United once had a women’s team? I have to say that I didn’t actually know that. Manchester United Ladies was founded in 1977 and played for 24 years before bcoming an official part of the club in 2001/2. However, they only played for 3 seasons before being disbanded. The decision was apparently and contoversially for financial reasons, which is hard to believe considering the level of profits at the moment. The women were not actually told that they would no longer be playing until after the team had officially been disbanded.

I have to say that I prefer mens football to womens football in general, but United would never disband the youth team for financial reasons so why not give the women a shot. After all, the England womens side is doing far better than McClarens men at the moment so why not?

Wayne Rooney is renowned for his fiery temper at both club and country level, having gotten into trouble as a result of it many times in the pasr. However, this time it appears that it has caused trouble off the pitch as well as on it.

Frustrated by England’s lack of results in recent months, it has been reported that he had an argument with England coach Steve McClaren after the 0-0 draw with Israel at the weekend. McClaren reportedly took his frustrations out on Rooney who then retaliated with a fe home truths. McClaren has denied that it ever happened, but sources cose to the England camp say that this is not the case. It will certainly be interesting to see whather Rooney lines up to start the match against Andorra on Wednesday.

The England Call Ups For Manchester United Players

Your Ad Here

The England national side play Spain in an international friendly on Wednesday night, and yet again Manchester United have had players called up to the squad. Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and Michael Carrick all figure in the squad and it is likely that all three will play. Is it any wonder considering the form that all three players are in at the moment? If Rooney is fit after receiving a knock in the four-nil win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, he will most definitely start.

Rooney is still England’s key man, despite his red card against Portugal in the World Cup last year… which we won’t mention to Manchester United team mate Cristiano Ronaldo! Rooney’s undoubtable talent is only lacking as a result of his temprement. If he can get that under control in the near future then there will be no stopping the man in years to come.

What is even more interesting is that Owen Hargreaves has also been called up alongside the Man Utd three. Alex Ferguson is rumoured to have put in a £20m bid for the Bayern Munich star in January. Will he be joining Rooney as a club as well as country team mate in the summer? Only time will tell.
