Title Run In 2006/7

With just seven games to go before yet another season draws to a close, the Premiership title is effectively Manchester United’s to throw away. At six points clear of Chelsea, and with the defending champions still to play in the penultimate game of the season, all bets are off. It is quite feasible that the Red Devils will get maximum points from the last seven games but wins in the next few would soon make it mathematically impossible to lose.
The final Premiership fixtures of the season are as follows:
Chelsea, Everton, Manchester United, Premiership, West HamRelated Posts:

Andrei Kanchelskis Retires
Legendary former Manchester United winger Andrei Kanchelskis announced his retirement today at the age of 38. Although he played for other Premiership clubs, most notably Everton and Manchester City, he made his mark on football at Man Utd and helped the club to two league titles and an FA Cup.
He joined Manchester United in 1991 for a bargain fee of £650,000 and played 162 times. He also scored 36 goals before he moved to Everton just four years later. He was an integral part of the early Ferguson side that dominated English football for a time. The picture above, with Lee Sharpe and the FA Cup, is how he will be remembered - a talented player who gave his all with a smile on his face!

Smith not for sale, says Fergie
Sir Alex Ferguson has quashed any rumours circulating around that Alan Smith is set to leave the club having had a dreadful time at the club due to injuries and making a slow recovery of sorts. Although he has seen more action taking part in reserve team action, it was largely believed that Fergie did not hold him in the same stead as he did before especially with the arrival of Henrik Larsson and Guiseppe Rossi back into the squad. All that was obviously not true now that Fergie have put those stories to rest by coming out in full support for Smith. This is what he had to say:
“Alan is doing really well at the moment.
“We put him on a speed programme, which had an immediate effect and we have seen a tremendous improvement in him over the last month.
“He is certainly not far away now.
“I wanted to take him down to West Ham but he didn’t want to go. He just wanted to stay and train on his own. He deserves great credit for that because it is not easy.
“He doesn’t want to travel again tomorrow either, so he will be training again.”
Smith had been linked with a move to Everton and David Moyes was keen on his signature but the Scot has now dismissed that possibility out of hand with this latest press conference.

Manchester United vs. Everton Review
United eased to YET another win in the Premier League as Everton left Old Trafford with nothing but a sad face wondering what hit them. To be fair, the scoreline does flatter to deceive but how many teams have been complaining of late for not taking our chances and all. Justice is served in my opinion and it was coming sooner or later. The Toffees had it coming to them and we delivered the sucker punch when we needed to.
Fergie did surprise me enormously with the amount of changes he made. We virtually had a second-string midfield out there, not that they aren’t good enough, just that we haven’t had the best of outings whenever they’ve been playing recently. The likes of Richardson, Fletcher and O’Shea did extremely well to adapt and find their feet soon enough. Although, United were a little slow off the foot but understandably so but like I said, the players settled and we got into our rhythum soon enough.
Ronaldo scored from a piledriver from 20 odd yards out before the break with Evra doubling the advantage after it. O’Shea made it 3-0 at the death, although Toffees did deserve better to be honest. So, the all-important three points in the bag and a trip to the Teeside awaits us this weekend. The Red Army go marching on!

The Toffees come calling to Old Trafford in a mid-week game this week in the Premier League. The Toffees have enjoyed a good spell under the Scot Moyes and have developed into one of the much-improved Premiership outfits in recent times. Moyes, for once, is certainly one of those managers who’re hated in all corners of the country. So does he stand a chance when he brings his merseyside men to the Theatre Of Dreams?! I think not!
United ARE pretty dominant at home and fixtures like this are the perfect opporunity to stamp our authority back on that home record of ours, no disrespect to Everton ofcourse! A good scoreline here would consolodate our position at the top of the table so the ball is always in Chelski’s court in a way.
SAF will have some selection decisions to make, who to leave out and who to replace with and the like. I wouldn’t be surprised to see two or three changes here and there. All in all, a nice outfit that’s more than good enough to beat the Toffees would do.
