Awesome United Wallpapers

WallOle

I have just found possibly th best collection of Manchester United wallpapers online. There aren’t hundreds of them. In fact, there are probably only around 20, if that, but they are the highest quality wallpapers that I have had the pleasure to lay eyes on. The graphics are completely new and unique. The John O’Shea wallpaper actually has information written on it!

My favourite is the Solksjaer one fetaured above. It has a dark quality but looks visually awesome! Check out the rest at http://www.msammut.com/wallpaper.htm. They are provided by www.manutdonline.org.

And The Reds Go Marching Onnnnnn….

                                                  O'Shea

It was crunch day today as Manchester United faced Liverpool at Anfield, with the Scousers having a 30 match unbeaten streak at home. Amazingly, our Red Devils pulled it off. We actually ended up beating them by a goal to nil. John O’Shea scored a 90th minute goal deep into injury time to snatch three points and consolidate our place at the top of the table. Although Chelsea also won, beating Portsmouth 2-0, it means that top spot if gettng further out of the Blues’ reach.

To be honest, Liverpool dominated the game and should have been two ahead just after helf time, but Manchester United kept on battling and never gave up. Paul Scholes was sent off in the second half for violent conduct, but that only served to dampen the mood slightly as the players celebrated an amazing three points at the end of the 90 minutes.

Manchester United Player Profiles : John O’Shea

The young Irishman John O’Shea has been with United for some time now. A graduate of the illustrious United Footballing Academy, O’Shea signed professional terms with United in August 1998 and made his first team debut just over a year later, away to Aston Villa in a Worthington Cup defeat. After making a number of appearances for the reserves, John was loaned out to Bournemouth in early 2000. He returned from Bournemouth only to be shipped out on loan again, but this time to Royal Antwerp.

2002-2003 was the break-through season in the Irishman’s career as he establish himself into the first team. With the squad hit by numerous injuries to defensive players early in the campaign, John was forced into the limelight earlier than Sir Alex planned. However, all the Old Trafford folk were highly impressed by his excellent performances, versatility and high standard of technical ability.

O’Shea was able to play at left, right back or in the centre of defence. United fans were amazed at his talent for pulling off swerves and step-overs and he was particularly effective down the wing in an attacking role. This was especially true in the 6-2 win at Newcastle. By the end of the season he had played in 52 games and become a solid fixture in the Reds defensive line-up.

Season 2003-2004 was a difficult second season for John with expectation’s now a lot higher than previous. And with Rio Ferdiand’s suspension causing havoc amongst United’s defenders his form took a dip. Yet the Irishman remained a regular in the first team tarting 32 league games and scoring twice.

The following year O’Shea found his left back position under pressure from the new arrival Gabriel Heinze. He had to make do with more appearances as sub, although coming off the bench he scored with a clever 20 yard lob in the 4-2 win at Highbury over Arsenal. The Irishman also found himself playing in central midfield as a defensive holding player. O’Shea reverted to defensive duties for season 2005-2006 due to the injuries that ruled out both Gabriel Heinze out and Wes Brown. By the end of the campaign with the arrival of Vidic and return of Brown, the Irishman was back in the midfield holding role forming an unlikely but surprisingly successful central partnership with Ryan Giggs. Only Rio Ferdinand played in more games that John O’Shea last season.

Manchester United vs. Manchester City Review

United went nine points clear at the top of the Premiership with a convincing, if a difficult, win against Citeh! The game was extremely exciting and Citeh put up a good show much to our surprise.

Wayne Rooney scored an early goal for us, when one of Citeh’s defenders made a complete hash of a backpass and Rooney was lurking nearby to slot home and open the scoring for United as early as five minutes into the game! We were looking sharp early on and might have made Citeh pay even more had it not been for some last-ditch defending by them.

Citeh did have a fair share of possession in the first half, and to their credit created a couple of chances which a clinical striker would have put away but it was not to be and it could be said that we got our second against the run of play. Gabriel Heinze stole the ball out on the left edge of the box and drilled in a shot was parried in by Louis Saha. This gave United a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the break and the tie seemingly over with.

Citeh came out with much more purpose after the break and had the majority of the ball and for once, United looked nervy. O’Shea came on for Saha in a tactical switch but that didn’t prevent Citeh’s attacks as they grabbed one back through a great individual goal by Trabelsi. That, however, only set the wheels back into motion as United got back into the groove and the persistance finally paid off when Rooney’s shot got deflected and landed into Ronaldo’s feet who made no mistakes in putting it in the back of the net to seal the game and the three points for United!

Manchester United vs. Everton Review

United eased to YET another win in the Premier League as Everton left Old Trafford with nothing but a sad face wondering what hit them. To be fair, the scoreline does flatter to deceive but how many teams have been complaining of late for not taking our chances and all. Justice is served in my opinion and it was coming sooner or later. The Toffees had it coming to them and we delivered the sucker punch when we needed to.

Fergie did surprise me enormously with the amount of changes he made. We virtually had a second-string midfield out there, not that they aren’t good enough, just that we haven’t had the best of outings whenever they’ve been playing recently. The likes of Richardson,  Fletcher and O’Shea did extremely well to adapt and find their feet soon enough. Although, United were a little slow off the foot but understandably so but like I said, the players settled and we got into our rhythum soon enough.

Ronaldo scored from a piledriver from 20 odd yards out before the break with Evra doubling the advantage after it. O’Shea made it 3-0 at the death, although Toffees did deserve better to be honest. So, the all-important three points in the bag and a trip to the Teeside awaits us this weekend. The Red Army go marching on!
