In the News…
Before our all-important Champions League fixture against Benfica tonight, I wanted to cover a couple of news stories taking shape out there in the press today. First of all, Mr. Mourinho came out saying all kinds of bull recently after his sore little draw here and he’s continued the trend saying he is rooting for the ‘Super Eagles’, as if we didn’t know that already! It is obvious the guy hasn’t had any serious competition to his thrown at the top of the League and with United leading the way now, he is feeling the heat!
On the other hand, Fergie is certain United will not fail tonight. That kind of optimism generally leads us in the wrong but let’s just hope that one was for the press only. Speaking of ‘for the press only’, Fergie has come out in defence of our winger Ronaldo too saying he is a ‘revenge victim’. While I may agree that he ‘did’ lose his balance at the wrong end of the field, it has been a rather common sight of late. Don’t get me wrong, it’s just that I’d rather win fair and square avoiding these controversies altogether. But I will agree with Fergie on one thing, that the press is always waiting for the opportunity to jump on Ronaldo’s back as soon as they see anything dubious from him which is ridiculous to say the least!

Reactions from the big game…
The mind games have apparently started already. So much that here I am talking about the reaction from our big game against Chelski once more. While Fergie is busy ruing his missed opportunities, Mr. Mourinho on the other hand has been putting up his usual annoyingly-noticeable arrogance on display for us once again by claiming the result was a positive one for Chelski.
Fergie said: “Between the two of us it is going to be nip and tuck and there won’t be a lot in it,” Ferguson said.
“But we have given ourselves an outstanding chance. It is a fantastic league and I’m just delighted my players have shown that they deserve to be where they are, no doubt about that.
“Maybe we could have scored more goals, but at the end of the day I’m pleased with the performance. I think this performance in such a high quality game shows them that we are probably the best team in the country at the moment.
“Now we have to step forward from that because becoming champions is about beating every team. Consistency is the name of the game.”
Although these post-match comments are more driven to wind the other side up and take the most positives, the fact remains that United held out firm to everything, as ugly as it was, Chelski threw at them. Let’s be clear about one thing though, Chelski played anything but pretty football and with that bugger Cashley Cole being driven mad by Ronaldo on the other end, we nearly scored the winner! So, yes to agree with Fergie, we did infact prove a point but three would’ve been magic.
Nevertheless, there is STILL a long way to go and both teams are likely to falter. The question remains who will falter more … ?
