Celebration

Some excellent news for all Manchester United fans - Louis Saha will be back for the start of the 1007/8 season! Almost back to full fitness, Louis Saha is now in training to improve match fitness ahead of the August fixtures. Out for the final weeks of last season, Saha missed out on playing in some srucial games for the Red Devils so he is raring to make up for that, by all accounts!!!

Ahead Of FA Cup Weekend

Your Ad Here

This has been a big week for Manchester United already considering they have progressed to the quarter final of the Cahmpions League. However, their week is about to get even bigger as they face Middlesborough at the Riverside in an FA Cup quarter final.

The team news is certainly interesting. Solksjaer, Fletcher, Saha and Silvestre are all out with injuries, which has led to Dong Fangzhou (a rookie that I wrote a quick bio about some weeks back) receiving his very first first team call up. It is also Henrik Larsson’s last appearence in a Manchester United shirt before his return to Sweden on the 12th March. Alex ferguson is certainly going to have a tough time choosing a side in the hours before the game.

Watch this space for the result!

Saha Also On The Injured List

                                         Saha BBC

Louis Saha is the latest name to join the Manchester United injuries list. It has been confirmed that he will miss at least a month of games and may not be fully fit before the end of the season. he has been sidelined with a hamstring injury that he sustained during training earlier on in the week. He has since had a scan on  it, which confirmed the prognosis. He will be sorely missed because Manchester United actually have one striker fit now - Wayne Rooney. With Solksjaer also on the injured list and Larsson returning to Sweden, this situation may indeed prove problematic in the title run in.

Marching On In The FA Cup

                                    Celebration

Tonight saw the triumphant march of Manchester United progress one step closer to the first FA Cup Final back at Wembley. the team had been unable to beat Reading at Old Trafford but beat them 3-2 tonight thanks to 3 goals in the first six minutes. Gabriel Heinze scored the opener on two minutes and was copied by Louis Saha two minutes later. The third was scored on 6 minutes by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. This put us firmly in the driving seat and made it a tie that seemed impossible to lose.

However, goals from Kitson and Lita made the score 3-2 and promised a thrilling closing few minutes of the game. Any Reds fan was bound to be sat on the edge of their seat. The team hung on with some brilliant defending nd now marches on towards a quarter-final tie with Middlesborough. If that game is half as good as this, then I can’t wait!

Frenchman Louis Saha has apparently extended his current deal with Man United to the year 2010. Finally, something good in the press about the United squad. It seems the defeat at Upton Park has cast a cloud of doom and gloom all over. But it is only natural that a thumping win against the likes of Villa at the weekend are going to disspell any fears of a weakened United not quite ready to sustain a title challenge against Chelski this year. Coming back to our news item, Saha has been an integral part of our squad when he’s been the lone man up front and spearheaded the United attack in recent times.

Have to say, his performances have been impressive of late and it is only logical that with the form he’s in currently, he should be rewarded with a new deal that will see him at Old Trafford for another couple of years.

In other news, Mr. Wenger is apparently still dreaming of a title this year claiming that the Gunners have not given up hope of winning the title this year. Sure thing Arsene, it’s just a piss-poor form and a 14-point gap with United that you have to contend with! lol!

Manchester United vs. Manchester City Review

United went nine points clear at the top of the Premiership with a convincing, if a difficult, win against Citeh! The game was extremely exciting and Citeh put up a good show much to our surprise.

Wayne Rooney scored an early goal for us, when one of Citeh’s defenders made a complete hash of a backpass and Rooney was lurking nearby to slot home and open the scoring for United as early as five minutes into the game! We were looking sharp early on and might have made Citeh pay even more had it not been for some last-ditch defending by them.

Citeh did have a fair share of possession in the first half, and to their credit created a couple of chances which a clinical striker would have put away but it was not to be and it could be said that we got our second against the run of play. Gabriel Heinze stole the ball out on the left edge of the box and drilled in a shot was parried in by Louis Saha. This gave United a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the break and the tie seemingly over with.

Citeh came out with much more purpose after the break and had the majority of the ball and for once, United looked nervy. O’Shea came on for Saha in a tactical switch but that didn’t prevent Citeh’s attacks as they grabbed one back through a great individual goal by Trabelsi. That, however, only set the wheels back into motion as United got back into the groove and the persistance finally paid off when Rooney’s shot got deflected and landed into Ronaldo’s feet who made no mistakes in putting it in the back of the net to seal the game and the three points for United!

Post-Chelsea Rant and Thoughts…

Yesterday was a really big day for us all, in terms of getting a fair amount of head-to-head stats on both United and Chelski, the only two sides capable of being Champions this year with Arsenal all but out now. First of all, how well did Saha take his goal?! Quite a brilliant finish from him, a left-foot shot curled across Carvalho and perfectly in the left corner! sublime! He didn’t waste much time getting over his dreadful miss in mid-week, did he?! Hats off to him for that and I sincerely hope he is fit and raring to go, although he did leave the field clutching his hamstring.

For all our early pressure, we failed to convert and although Saha did quite fantastic to hand us the lead, we has other chances to score which we sadly did not take. Their goal could be seen coming as soon as Webb blew for the second half to be honest and a point they did take and a point they did make at OT yesterday. Our lack of cover in the striking department is clearly exposed, with no one to take Saha’s place if he’s injured we need to call Rossi back! or better get Fernando Torres in! (highly unlikely though).

Although Howard Webb did ok yesterday, he did however allow one or two clattering tackles by the blue men to go unpunished although he still booked that diver Drogba, who did his best to take Vidic’s head off with that elbow of his! All in all a satisfying afternoon for the men in red but the time to strengthen is now Fergie! Hope you have some names shortlisted because we need cover bad because I have a feeling that Chelski will be breathing down our necks all the way to the end!
