There are so many commercial websites trying to sell their wares out ther that it is envitable that people will tire of it after a while. No longer can individuals be bothered to search for stuff that isn’t as good as they could do themselves. Well, now they don’t have to!

There is a website that is owned and ran by a Manchester United fan and actively invites individuals to submit their own fan art for display. There are caricatures on there, abstrat peices and much more all dedicated to Manchester United by the fans. It is just a place to let your cretive juices run riot whilst supporting your club. Not only is it an excellent idea in theory but, judging by the high quality on there, it is also a good idea in practice. The Wayne Rooney artwork above is my personal favourite so long on to discover yours!

Another Weekend, Another Injury

                                                      GNev

As the Premier League season hurtles towards its conclusion, the manchester United injury list seems to get longer and longer with every passing weekend. This weekend, Gary Neville was added to the list. Alex Ferguson insists that he will be back in three weeks, but that seems a bit too short a time considering the injury.

Neville went in for a tackle in the weekend game against Bolton and caught his ankle between the ground and a plyer’s knee. It looked a horific injury and he was lucky not to have disolcated his ankle. neville will be lucky if he is back before the end of the season.

Do I Hear Another FA Cup Final Song?

Your Ad Here

As Manchester United are doing so well in the FA Cup this year, I got to thinking that maybe, just maybe, we’d be treated to wnother FA Cup song! Looking through the United discography, I can see, and vaguely remember, the likes of Giggs, Sharpe and Kanchelskis singing along with Status Quo in 1994! The Quo penned the hit “Come On You Reds” as we won the double that year. Believe me, you’ll be surprised at what is in the vault… but not forgotten.

You can find the discography at  http://eil.com/shop/ExtSearch.asp?DiscArtist=Manchester-United-FC.

Ah, the memories!

                                                      Program

Manchester United memorabilia can go for thousands of pounds on ebay today, despite the item’s given worth. As a result, it is hard to catch a bargain to build up a collection of programmes or shirts. You are probably best to look on fanzones, Internet shops and forums for trades and purchases at their proper value.

I have found a fantastic store online called CollectSoccer (the Man Utd page is located at http://www.collectsoccer.com/acatalog/Manchester_United_Memorabilia.html). You can find song sheets, signed shirts, programs and all sorts of other things on there. The best buy though, in my opinion, is a program from Highbury from 1958. It is £300 but is the very last program before the Munich air disaster. It is worth every penny.

Manchester United Current Badge

1970s                                                                                 1990s

Manchester United’s decision to alter the club badge in 1998 caused a minor outcry amongst die hard fans. Up until then, the badge appeared with the words “Manchester United Football Club” on the crest. The 1998 decision removed the words “Football Club” and put “United” on the bottom level of the badge. It was meant to reflect the fact that it was now a brand and more than a football club, but it angered traditional fans who valued the crest.

The devil has been a fixture on the badge since the 1970s, after the FA recommended that all clubs should copyright their badges. The 1970s (first image) badge is now synonymous with Manchester United, even if the 1990s badge (second image) has a subtle difference. Man Utd wouldn’t be the same without it!

The One And Only David Beckham

                                Beckham

Regardless of what your opinions are of David Beckham, you cannot deny that he was once one of the greatest players in the world, and a proud Manchester United player. I’m sure that most Man Utd fans have a soft spot for him in their hearts, and so they should. He was a prime example of the youth team in his early days, along with the Neville brothers and Paul Scholes, to name but three. As he grew to be a recognised face in the squad, he helped spur the team on to trophy after trophy.

Beckham supported Manchester United from a boy and modelled himself on Bobby Charlton. He played football fantically as a child and jumped at the chance to sign on with United on his 14th birthday. It was a decision he would never regret. he signed a YTS contract in 1991 and only took four years to make his first team debut, which was in a 0-0 draw against Leeds on 2nd April 1995. He became a regular the following season and helped the team to winning the double. He continued to play with some success until moving to Real Madrid in 2003 following publicised spats with Alex Ferguson.

As Beckham had played over 400 games and scored 85 goals in 11 years, he remains one of the club’s longest serving and highest scoring players. Whatever else is said about him, Beckham was and is Manchester united through and through and we should all wish him luc when he moves to America in the summer!
