Manchester United vs. FC Copenhagen (Champions League) Review
Oh boy! How fortunes can change in a matter of minutes. All set and in control of the game and suddenly they score and we’re huffing and puffing to no avail. Last night was something of a disappointment given the consistent lack of quality to the frontmen and less than impressive finishing from the lads.
Aston Villa flop Marcus Allback bundled home the only goal of the game in the 73rd minute to end our seven game winning streak, a shock more than anything considering we had been playing some good stuff lately. Especially a shocker coming off a 4-0 romp off Bolton. But I guess this wasn’t our strongest eleven but you have to say the team put, although a weakened one, was more than good enough to win, ideally, but at the very least draw away at Copenhagen.
It was not to be! Although we were dominant for some parts of the game, like I said, but just when we needed to stamp our authority with a neat build-up and finish, we didn’t! O’Shea and Rooney missed sitters as the hosts were let off the hook on more than occasion. A lacklustre performance on our part, and the game seemed destined for a draw when they struck. A sloppy goal to concede as we failed to clear a corner.
We played with a bit more purpose from then on but couldn’t find that goal. Ronaldo had the ball in the net with seconds on the clock, but to our dismay the goal was ruled out for offside! Too much tinkering with the squad if you ask me. Now, we need to make sure we get something from our games against Celtic and Benfica in order to progress.
