Transfer Speculation
The season has not even drew to a close yet and there is already speculation concerning Alex erguson’s summer transfer targets. It is expected that he will bring in at least three new players in the summer, with the likely three primary targets identifies as Owen Hargreaves, Southampton’s Gareth Bale and Tottenham’s Dimitar Berbatov.
It is likely that Ferguson will have to enter a bidding war fro all three players but Hargreaves especially is unlikely to go anywhere else. i guess only time will tell though!

With just weeks left of the 2006/7 season, the summer’s transfer speculation has already begun! Manchester United has already been linked with some big names, like Bayern Munich’s Owen Hargreaves, but they’re getting even bigger by the day.
Today, United were linked with Barcelona’s Deco. Deco is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world and would be an asset to any squad, but if Manchester United actually bought him then it would set the squad up for another title battle next season. The fee would easily be in excess of £15m, possibly even more… but it would certainly be worth it!

As January draws ever-closer, the rumour mill is in full circulation as all sorts of speculation is making its way into the tabloids. Among the constant source of speculation are the names of three players in particular: Owen Hargreaves, Joey Barton and Gareth Bale. Read more on this story here.
To be fair, the debate surrounding the arrival of Owen Hargreaves has been going on since forever and only recently got heated when the Bayern chairman claimed that Owen would not be leaving the Munich outfit this summer. However, the papers are rife with rumours that he will eventually be on his way as soon as he regains full fitness, which is not very far away now.
Gareth Bale, meanwhile, is a young left-back from Southampton. He has attracted the attention of a lot of Premiership clubs lately but one thing’s for certain that if Fergie wants him, he’ll probably get him.
Joey Barton has also been linked with us strangely. Personally, I am not a very big fan of his although he is the muscular type, fit for a midfielder that is. Fergie knows better I guess!

Chelski close the gap
With Chelski barely winning their game against Newcastle last night, the gap is down to 5 points finally. As if the Jose whining wasn’t enough, John Terry has now jumped into the whining bandwagon suggesting that Chelski are yet to hit top form. Read the news item here where he gloats about how Chelski are going to end up as the top team in the country. Well, you gotta let him dream as he has every right to and given the fact that they ARE the current champions of England. But it’s obvious the Chelski camp is seeing something it hasn’t seen since Mourinho’s arrival, that is playing catch-up to the real champions of England.
But let’s not count our chickens before they hatch! There is a long way to go, as I keep saying over and over, and the most important thing right now is the January transfer window. There is increasing speculation about who’s coming and who’s going out of United but Bayern have certainly come out and refused to let Hargreaves go. Strange as it may sound, this looks like a battle that is going to go on for quite a while. After all, he is their player and if they want, they can keep him for the entire length of his contract.
Other targets being mentioned in the daily tabloids include Torres, Huntelaar, Antonio Puerta et al. So fingers crossed on that front. Last but certainly not the least, the Champions League draw is going to be held tomorrow and I, for one, am going to be watching that live telecast! Lets hope we avoid one of the big-guns in the quarters, but it really wouldn’t matter because we are going to play them sooner or later. I would fancy us against anyone right now, home and away. So let’s hope this is finally our year in Europe too and we go all the way! The Reds go marching on ….

Manchester United Transfer Rumours
A rather unplanned post of sorts but an exciting one nevertheless. There is a story doing in the rounds in `The Mirror` today about the possiblity of United looking at Jermaine Defoe for a possible transfer or an exchange deal in the upcoming transfer window. As much as I wish it were true, I just can’t see it happening since he IS a regular at Spurs and secondly, he HAS come out and said publicly that he is NOT going anywhere.
But a footballer’s word is of little significance these days, evidently so Ca$hley Cole said the same thing weeks before he left for that certain London club. Personally and honestly speaking, I would love to see him in a red shirt because he would be an enormous success at Old Trafford. He will not be the most regular of players but you never know how things may pan out. But one thing’s for sure, if we want him and he DOES want to leave there’s only OT he’ll be heading for because there is simply no place better for him.
Also keeping the tabs on the situation over in Munich with Owen Hargreaves. He has had a number of setbacks on the road to his recovery following a broken leg. He was expected to be fit somewhere close to the New Year but that now looks like remote. Whether we will be moving for him still, remains uncertain but he is another one of those players who would be perfect in terms of replacing the likes of Scholes in the middle of the park for years to come.

Possible Transfer Window Signings for United
The January transfer window is fast approaching and with the injury concerns that we’ve had to face since the start of the season have highlighted some shortcomings in our squad although there have been no serious repurcussions as of yet but the fact of the matter is, we need more depth and quality to ensure a sustainable title-winning campaign.
In my opinion, what we need is another fit and goalscoring striker. We may no longer have Ruud, but Rooney, Saha and Solskjaer and more than enough to fill his boots. At any given time, two of them getting injured is simply unacceptable as we would face obvious deficiencies in the striking department and it only take a knock to get a player out for a week. With important games coming up in the Champions League and in the Premiership (against Chelski) we must have enough depth to cope with such circumstances. For now, I say we call back Rossi immediately as cover (although he’s getting some good first-team exposure up at the Toon).
Another position that needs filling is in the midfield department. I’m all for Owen Hargreaves, but he too is injured at the moment. I would love to see him in a red shirt, and I think he will end up sooner or later.
