Man Utd vs. Portsmouth Preview

Manchester United face Portsmouth away in this weekend’s Premiership fixture, and three points are essential against an inferior side with the end of the season fast approaching. Another three points would give the side an edge over second placed Chelsea and do well to at least maintain the six point gap that is already in place.

There is only one team change of note. Patrice Evra will return from his injury enforced lay off after several weeks in the treatment room. Aside from Evra’s addition to the squad, the team will remain unchanged from the one that travelled to Roma

Old Trafford has hosted its fair share of great games and great players through the years. Andy why wouldn’t it when it is the home of Manchester United? However, very few fans could tell you that the biggest gate only took place last year when Old Trafford played host to Aston Villa!

After our not-so-convincing display in the Danish capital mid-week, the weekend sees us take on the high-flying side from down south, Pompey. They seem to have a had a resurgence in fortunes ever since Ol’ Harry decided to return to them, from none other than the Saints! Nevertheless, they have playing some decent stuff lately and on evidence of that, tomorrow’s game may not be as easy as it seems.

As far as team news, Solskjaer is still out whereas Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs both have reported fit, which is great news!

Although I predict a close encounter, but in the end we should be home and dry with our strongest eleven on the pitch doing the job professionally even though Pompey are no roll-overs.
